Hi, I’m Kevyn Schneider, owner and principal photographer of Schneider Photographers.
I studied 7 years majoring in photography in both my undergrad and graduate work at Sam Houston State University, one of the finest photography programs in the Southern US at the time. I am highly trained in the classic techniques of photography, even having physics (light & optics concentration) as one of my minors. I even have experience creating holograms, 3 dimensional images captured on emulsion-covered glass plates created using lasers as the light source. I have worked professionally as a printer, a manager of a photo lab serving only professional photographers, as well as working as a “behind the camera” photographer in both commercial and in portrait/wedding studios before morphing into a full-time IT alpha-geek*. As a wedding photographer working with my mentor Pam Stoll, we mainly photographed large weddings for the social elite and were considered the high-end photographers of our community in Bryan/College Station TX. After moving to San Antonio with my wife, I transitioned into the IT field of Data Management and Business Intelligence. While still doing photography, I took a hiatus from doing it as a full time profession. As digital photography came of age, I watched and impatiently waited until the technology matured sufficiently, which I felt it did around 2008. At that time I re-entered the field of wedding and portrait photography, bypassing film expenses and going 100% digital; I truly enjoy photographing weddings as well as taking lifestyle portraits as I enjoy getting to know my clients and the opportunity to capture in images who they are as people. I am now working full time in both IT and photography.
