…And a Happy New Year!
Phew! I feel like I’ve just slid into home plate amidst a cloud of dust, somewhat surprised to hear the word “safe” from the umpire!
For those who don’t know me, 2009 has been a very challenging year. After a few years of dreaming and planning, I again reentered professional photography by starting Schneider Weddings, only to be confronted with unavailability of contractors to fix home damage caused by Hurricane Ike, the death of my mother, an injury-causing car accident, then two more injuries and two surgeries, still lacking any real sense of touch in my thumb. And yet looking back on 2009, I can honestly say God has blessed me beyond belief. I have a wonderful wife, four fantastic children, awesome friends and family, and not one but two careers to support my family with. Through all the trials I have not missed a single wedding or portrait session (although I am behind on delivering some specialized artwork). The sorrows and pains and inconveniences which I have faced pale in comparison to the blessings I have received in undeserved abundance.
As I start 2010 I am truly in awe of God’s providence in my life. I begin my 50th year with joy, gratitude and great anticipation of the road before me. I pray that God would guide my steps through the rocks in my path, and that you would let him do the same in your life.
Happy New Year, everyone!
