The Duck
Ha! This is GREAT! Comedy is most funny when it reflects real life. “What The Duck” is to professional photography what “Dilbert” is to the IT field (I’m in both). The comic strip below is priceless – how many times have my 7 years of college training in photography and fine art and all the years I’ve developed my vision and timing been reduced to “Your camera takes really nice pictures”?

It’s always good therapy to laugh at yourself! I think I’ll keep this post on top for a while…

Service Notice
The server SchneiderWeddings.com is hosted on will be undergo a migration to new hardware at approximately 12PM CST Wednesday July 29th
I expect the downtime to be 1-2 hours, but maintenance could be completed in less time. DNS issues including DNS propagation will not be an issue with these migrations as all the IPs from the original server will be moved to the new server as part of the migration. This upgrade should greatly increase performance of this site, which has been an issue in the past.
I apologize for any inconvenience this downtime may cause you.

Rand & Laura
Rand became my friend about 6 years ago when he was a high school student. We both went to Salem Lutheran Church in Tomball Tx. He his now graduating from Texas A&M and is marrying a beautiful young woman named Laura, who I just had the honor of meeting today. Rand is a man with a plan, and these guys have a fantastic life unfolding before them. They were looking at a venue in Conroe. I met them there and we took two photographs before we were chased off (no photos allowed unless the couple books, which they have not done yet). This highlights something important: always get the shot. Weddings move fast and you never know what new twist of fate is coming. I’m not paid to provide excuses, I’m paid to provide results. While we had almost no time for photography, we still came away with some beautiful images (they lost some sharpness due to WordPress – this blog software – not compressing images well).
Below are some of the images we were able to get before lunch:
It’s not fair for other photographers that I get such great looking couples. These guys can make a ratty old building look great!
It’s a blessing to get to work for couples like this. That’s why I’m picky and turn down some couples. I’m in this for the romance and the fun, and it’s a total blast being around people like Rand & Laura!

Rodeo Bible Camp Video
This is a video slideshow of about 150 of the 6000+ images I took at the 2009 Rodeo Bible Camp (RBC). Still have a ton of editing to do to get all the images ready for posting. 100% of all profits from RBC print sales will go to scholarship funds for RBC2010! RBC does fantastic, life-changing work with teens and is one of the charities which Schneider Weddings proudly supports.
Note: This video looks great in full screen mode! Click on the image below, and once it starts playing, click on the “four corners” icon on the lower right of the player to view it full screen. If you have a slow internet connection you may want to pause playing until the video downloads to your PC’s buffer – this will reduce “jumpiness” when the video plays.

Rodeo Bible Camp – Day 1
Actually today was day 2, but I’m just getting photos from Day 1 edited. It’s hard to pick a few from the thousands I took yesterday. Most of these are from CrossFire, our youth group’s Wed. church service. Rodeo Bible Camp attendees worshiped with Crossfire – it was an awesome & uplifting service.

Cool!!
I now have both the Gallery and Frame Shop pages online! (See the links on the top menu?) I must say I’m learning far more about PHP and CSS coding than I wanted to. Please let me know if you experience any issues with them. Note that the Gallery requires you to install the Flash plugin for your browser; most everyone already has this. Also, the Frame Shop requires a login to work properly; contact me and I’ll set you up with a client ID.
