Floatin’ & Fishin’

An evening at the Schneider homestead pond, with 3 of the 4 kids (the oldest was out trail riding).   Our second batch of young’uns received their first fishing poles today and just had to wet their lines!  Our 12 year old decided to serve as a target for the hook-free casting practice as our 6 year old worked on her form.  As darkness finally sent us packing, our little mare Junebug checked to see if there was anything worth eating in the tackle box.

What has this got to do with weddings?  (Besides the low-light outdoor photojournalistic event photography aspect, and the wedding album photo montage layout adapted for a casual vertical blog?)  Hey, this is the biology of marriage, it’s the part about raising a family and growing older together!!  Life is a journey – enjoy the ride!

More Stuff!

Who doesn’t like more stuff?  I’m actively working on a lot more content for this site, including an online frame shop!  Of course it’s hidden from view until all the regression testing is done, but look for enhancements to be released in the near future!

Missions Commitment

ppa_charities-thumb-200x156-34

I am committed to donating 20% of all net profits from my wedding photography to missions and other worthy charity work. These donations will be made to ongoing missions which have proven to be consistently good stewards of the money they receive, and who serve the physical, emotional and/or spiritual needs of those they serve.

Due to changing needs and opportunities (such as time-limited donation matching offers), donation recipients will be determined in good faith solely by Kevyn Schneider. Schneider Weddings will honor your preferences for secular vs. religious affiliated charities. Past donation recipients include but are not limited to Operation Smile (a PPA Charity), Friends of Texas Wildlife, the USO, Snowball Express, The Wounded Warrior Project, Star of Hope, Houston Food Bank, Lutheran World Relief, LCMS World Missions, CCCI, World Vision, Samaritan’s Purse, Speed The Light, and similar service and mission organizations.

I have a real heart for Africa, especially for those suffering and dying from persecution in the Sudan, and for my brothers and sisters in Kenya who are rebuilding the Springs of Life Church and Medical Clinic in Kibera, which was burned in post-election tribal violence. Kibera is the largest slum in Africa, located in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital. Kibera has roughly the same population as Austin, Texas.

New Video!

I am a hopeless romantic, which is why my main focus in photography is on engagements, bridals, weddings and families. I’ve never photographed a wedding I didn’t get a little choked-up or teary-eyed at.  I love love. I love telling love stories. If you haven’t watched this on the “About  Kevyn” page yet, click on the link below to see an enchanting engagement video.

Enjoy!

Back from Texas School!

I just returned from TPPA Texas School, and am all fired up!  This is the first year it was held at UT in Arlington (between Dallas & Ft. Worth), and had record breaking attendance (1000+ professional photographers).  There were some Awesome people there, and just the new friends I made were well worth the price of admission.

I studied under Susan and Stuart Powers from Gainsville FL.  What a great couple, and what amazing photographers!  They have won more top PPA awards for album design than any other photographers, often times earning perfect 100 scores.  They really helped to open my eyes to a number of  things, from album design to Photoshop to goal setting, and they are the inspiration behind this blog.

It was challenging creating images with other photographers in such close proximity, since I wasn’t able to direct the models (obviously, that was Stewart’s job and prerogative).  Here’s an image Stewart captured of me (the handsome bearded chap) playing with my Lensbaby “art lens”.  The photographs I captured follow below.

Cool stuff!  I always strive to create create a variety of image styles within a given setting to the extent feasible.  The dreamy image is definitely a keeper, but more than a few such images within an album diminishes the impact of the others.  Such specialized tools and techniques are best when chosen carefully and used judiciously.

New Website!!

I’ve been needing to update my website; instead of an overhaul, I’ve decided to create a new one from scratch, which you’re now looking at.  Not something for the feint of heart, and an IT background really helps!  I’ve gotten WordPress installed, created a theme (SchneiderNoir) for WordPress, Joomla and plain ol’ HTML, and have it installed and running.  I’ll be moving the front end of my site to SchneiderPhotographers.com and SchneiderWeddings.com.

Happy birthday to me…
